This weeks round up of the social network vibe is two things.

  1. Very late sorry but holidays and work happened. I will try not to allow that to happen again.
  2. A great opportunity to point back to some of the posts from other Social Network contributors whom sit in my own Google reader stream

Contributors of intellect and cunning in this social network post include , in no particular order, Steve Spalding, Lorri Randle , Chris Brogan , Jeff Pulver , Maki and of course no Social Network round up is complete without a pointer to Jeremiah Owyang.

First advice from “How to split an Atom” is the use of those long used, oft disputed , rarely ratified Social News sites. In “How To Use Social News Sites” Steve  breaks down the known and the new of the networking news. From the Golden Childs prodigy DIGG to the old vanguards of  first posting Slashdot and onto such greats as Truemors, Reddit, Stumbledupon and others.  Listing pros and cons to each site with a nice wrap up advising us all to watch where we post and how for the readers of such venues are often less than literate or capabable of handling a staunch debate. Wise words Steve.

After that reading session , sit back grab a cup of Chai, and enjoy the link from Lorri Randle to the Social Networking 101 with Christopher Penn.  This video actually links over to Christopher Penns own site and you can expect quite a bit of great commentary, advice and oh  yeah Chinos.

Now that your well educated on Social networks its time to dust off that Facebook profile , removing all those terrible drunken party pictures ( or not ) and take Chris Brogans advice on Fix your Facebook now. Did I take the Advice, well kinda but trust me I will , honestly I am going to update it real soon now just as soon as I get the next twitter out and update my Mash profile and fix my side bar on loudmouthman.com.

Paying attention to my Blog though and the blatant linkage into it  is the Focus of DoshDosh.coms recent post on “Social Media Marketing Strategy #2: The Mullet and Link Baits” .  Linkbaits and Mullets gives some great advice to those who just go for broke peppering their blogs and their content with the same same same same content in an attempt to grab attention of their readers. For those who feel traditional mechanisms can apply in a social network , read some of Dosh Dosh first.

Having a plan and strategy was the topic for Jeff Pulvers post “What is YOUR Social Media Strategy” describing Facebook as a tactic ( not the small minty variety ) in an corporates Social Media strategy and highlighting that its not just for  kids anymore. Something I know in the UK we are still hammering away at.

Continuing in this Theme is “Web Strategy: What the Web Strategist should know about Twitter“  is another great review and break down of the corporate value of one of the social networks more popular brands. I especially loved the link to Brian Oberkirchs post “Dont Tweet like a n00b” .

But if all this talk, strategy, planning and fixing is just too much for you then I can highly recommend a return to Steve Spaldings “How to split an Atom” and his post “How to Create Anti Social Networks“. Now im not going to afford the main culprit of Steves post with yet another texual link to up their Google-arity but suffice to say the bacn went out and the SPAM descended for a few days there and I for one was glad to have been on Holiday.

Speaking of which theres no more planned for a few more months but if your finding these posts useful, informative, daft or interesting then let us know. If you dont like these posts then really , why are you still reading !

Thanks for reading.
